The staff is amazing! If you go in with an open mind you'll get a lot out of this program. The only aspect that was great was the food, but i was there to clean and deal with trauma, so ot was easy to overlook.

I was there in the mid 1980s. I signed for their Survivor's Workshop (5 days). After they determined I was clinically depressed, I remained for 5 weeks. Lucky me! I'll never be perfect but at least I'm not on "automatic pilot". For the most part, when I have a reaction to something or someone, I understand why...the insight doesn't always prevent me from "reacting", but if I put thought into it, I usually know why. Lol, the older I get, the less I give a good damn! This fact is not always a good thing.

Just a wonderful program with the greatest most compassionate staff ever! They are treating trauma using modalities that are light years ahead of their time- neuro-feedback, somatic experiencing, EMDR and they have a unique focus on nutrition. They have different facilities for different primary addictions such as sex, eating disorders, and workshops. Patients who are there to treat the aforementioned issues don't mix with everyone at The Meadows main facility which has a good blend of primary trauma, chemical dependency, gambling, PTSD, OCD, anxiety and depression. Everyone is assessed and treated pretty individually. Their answer is to treat the core issues rather than throw pills at the problem-which most of us know will only mask the symptoms while the core trauma issues remain unchanged. This is a place where someone can truly HEAL. If you go with an open heart and an open mind The Meadows will change your life and the lives around you.

This review is almost 12 years after I was a client. The Meadows helped me begin to face my trauma. The staff and clients were amazingly supportive. I met clients that are still my friends today. They accept this flawed human being as he is and as we all travel the road less traveled . Peace.

I learned at the Meadows that I can give power to the ones I choose that keep me on a healthy path. The recovery voice that has received direction and coaching says "I am worthy of this." The recovery voice says when I put energy and effort into continuing to locate tools that help me with areas I feel afraid of, the reward will ALWAYS be a better understanding of my addictive mind.
